An engineering company in Merseyside contacted MEZZ-RACK SYSTEMS through a recommendation from one of our existing clients in that area.
Requirements
They had a problem storing boxes of rivets which were delivered on pallets and left in the middle of the warehouse and order picked from that location. We sent a consultant to see the customer and spent the day speaking to the warehouse manager and his operatives to try and resolve what was clearly a ridiculous and dangerous situation.
Our consultant was offered a make shift office to work from and it is from here, with the aid of his lap top computer, that he designed, on the spot, a 2 tier Heavy Duty Shelving System suitable for the customers requirements. As the client had a little extra space in the shelving area we suggested the benefits of utilising this space immediately and build in an extra 30% for expansion.
The layout consisted of 4 double entry runs and 1 Single entry run of IMX50 Shelving - each run consisting of 18 bays in length and 6 shelves in each of the lower and upper tier - the walkways 1100mm wide and strong enough for a hand pallet truck to work - the racks fully clad - each shelf compartmented with full height dividers - 2 Staircases designed for access to the upper level and 2 loading gates for palletised goods, with hand rail to the exposed edges.
Outcome
The customer was so pleased with our efficiency that he placed an Order before our consultant left with a contract value of £46,000
