MEZZ-RACK SYSTEMS received an invitation to tender for a clothing manufacturer in the heart of Scotland. Working with a drawing provided by an architect we was requested to price for an already designed system of up to 11 metres in height. We priced accordingly for the accommodation of 8,000 pallets 1200 x 1000mm.

After careful consideration the warehouse manager placed an order with MEZZ-RACK SYSTEMS to install 8,000 pallet locations of racking. During our site survey it was apparent that the pallet size of 1200 x 1000mm was not suitable for the boxed products that were being stored. We also discovered that the building height to the eves of the building was in fact 15.2 metres.

Although in a nice position with an order valued at £120,000, we suggested that the whole layout of the racking system be looked at again. It was agreed that, by utilizing the full height of the warehouse and changing the pallet size to 800 x 1200mm, a Narrow Aisle System would now be the ideal concept. By working closely with the preferred Narrow Aisle Truck Supplier, and also the Rack Sprinkler Installation teams, we were able to install a Storax Pallet Racking System that would now accommodate 11,800 pallets, an increase of 47.5%.

The change of system meant an extra short term expenditure of near on £180,000 due to a) Extra Racking, b) Extra Sprinklers and c) Change from Reach Truck to Narrow Aisle. However, a delighted Managing Director has advised us that we have saved him the cost of Building his proposed extension to cover a further 4,000 pallets - a saving overall of £400,000.

Project 2:
SUPERBUILD PALLET RACKING - HOME COUNTIES

MEZZ-RACK SYSTEMS was approached by an Electronic Components Manufacturer to cost for the supply and installation of 600 pallet locations of Pallet Racking. Our price was competitive enough to win the Order but it was our delivery time that clinched the Contract. Because the installation had to be completed through the Easter shutdown, we only had 8 days to deliver and 4 days to install.

The materials were delivered from stock within 3 days and the Superbuild Pallet Racking System was built on the second day of the Easter period. The logistics manager of this company was extremely pleased with our service and, because of the speed that our Installers worked, it was suggested that we dismantle a redundant mezzanine floor of 3,500 sq. ft. which was not due to be removed until the summer shut down. Our installers undertook this task, as an extra over to requirement, within the remaining two day period. The client is extremely happy.

An accounts manager from a plastics company in Teesside telephoned MEZZ-RACK SYSTEMS and stated that his regular supplier of Storage Equipment had unexpectedly let him down with a delivery. He said that, although it was not a great deal of Pallet Racking and Long span shelving, he must have a system delivered and installed within 3 days to meet a delivery of goods that was to be utilised within the racking system. Being a Friday afternoon this did make the possibilities of delivering the following day questionable. However, our supplier organised the materials and delivered the following afternoon.

Our installers, 6 in total, went in on the Sunday to complete the installation of 42 bays of Super Build Pallet Racking and 120 bays of Unirack Long Span Shelving. Our contact was amazed when he arrived at work mid-day on the Monday to find his Pallet Racking already half loaded and the Long Span fully utilized.

He also remarked on the galvanized finish of both the Pallet Racking and Long Span, which he states ‘compliments the job thoroughly’.
